R = Rectangular fire box
TD = Top draught
The current model is the RTD. When you look at the the fire box (i.e. where you put the logs) it is rectangular in shape and the burn chamber plates have vertical stripes.
The older model is TD (& Peis 18). The firebox slopes in towards the back to form a trapezoid shape.
